Alicia M. Baird, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Collaborative, thoughtful psychiatric care for adults navigating mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and complex mental health concerns in Asheville, North Carolina
YOU DON’T HAVE TO KEEP BARELY HOLDING IT TOGETHER.
If you are a thoughtful, capable adult who feels overwhelmed internally — despite appearing high-functioning on the outside — you’re in the right place.
Most of my client come to me saying things like…
“I’m exhausted from fighting my brain.”
“I don’t know if this is anxiety, trauma, ADHD… I just know I’m struggling.”
“I can’t focus and it’s affecting my work.”
“My mood feels unpredictable.”
I help people (like you) regain steadiness.
Together, we’ll clarify diagnoses, thoughtfully evaluate medication options, and build treatment plans that reduce suffering and improve daily functioning — at work, in relationships, and within yourself.
My goal is not just symptom reduction. It’s helping you feel capable, clear, and more like yourself again.
Regain steadiness. Reclaim yourself.
Work with Me
Thoughtful evaluation and medication management designed with depth, clarity, and collaboration, plus direct access and responsive communication — because psychiatric care doesn’t only happen during your appointments.
About Me
I chose psychiatry because I have seen (and experienced) how debilitating untreated mental health conditions can be. I have also seen how transformative it is when someone receives care that is competent, careful, and deeply human.
What makes this different
My approach is built on precision without rigidity; relational depth without boundarylessness; and evidence-based, human-first care.
It’s slower and more intentional than high-volume care, so you get the attention you need and deserve.
When to reach out
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, destabilized, or unsure what’s happening — you don’t have to navigate it alone.
Schedule a consultation to see if we’re a good fit.
Who I Work Best With
Many of my clients are deep thinkers.
They research their symptoms. They ask questions.
They’re seekingclarity.
They don’t want to be dismissed.
They don’t want to be overmedicated.
They want careful, collaborative care.
Direct communication and responsive follow-up are built into my model of care — because psychiatric treatment doesn’t only happen during your appointments.
If you are looking for quick prescriptions without conversation, my practice may not be the right fit.
But if you’re seeking thoughtful, collaborative, steady care — you’re in the right place.
I am especially well-suited to work with adults navigating things like…
Depression and bipolar spectrum conditions
ADHD and executive dysfunction
Anxiety and panic disorders
Trauma-related conditions and OCD
Neurodivergence and complex or overlapping diagnoses
Addiction and sleep concerns
Hi. I’m Alicia M. Baird.
I am a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults 18 and older. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology and Behavior from Cornell University and my Master’s degree in Nursing from Yale University School of Nursing.
I have over 19 years of experience working in private practice, crisis stabilization, hospital settings, residential care, community programs, and outpatient detox and rehabilitation.
I believe people are much more than their diagnoses. Treatment involves caring for the whole person — mind, body, relationships, and environment.
My practice is collaborative, trauma-informed, and LGBTQIA-affirming.
I value thoughtful prescribing, shared decision-making, and coordination with therapists and other providers when appropriate.
Seeking treatment for a mental health concern can feel overwhelming, and taking steps toward support requires courage.
Wherever you are in your journey, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
